All applicants must live in the consortium area: Any middle school in the Compton Unified, Hawthorne, Inglewood Unified, Lawndale, Lennox, Long Beach Unified, Lynwood Unified, Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified, Torrance Unified, Wiseburn, and the following middle schools in the southeastern portion of the Los Angeles Unified School District: Bethune, Carnegie, Caroldale, Carver, Clay, Curtiss, Dana, Dodson, Drew, Edison, Fleming, Gage, Gompers, Harte, Mann, Markham, Muir, Nimitz, Peary, South Gate, White and Wilmington. Private school students who live in the attendance area of the middle schools in the consortium listed above are also eligible to apply.

Requirements:

  • Be a current 8th grader
  • 3.0 cumulative academic GPA for grades 6-8
  • Score at the proficient or advanced level on Content Standards Test
  • Completion of Algebra I, Algebra 1 / 2, or Algebra C/D
  • Demonstrated high Interest in Math and Science

Long Beach Unified School District and LBUSD area private schools:(ONLY)


Application will be available in October from CAMS or your middle school
Applications must be in the CAMS office by 4:00pm; December 10, 2007
Interviews will be January 12, 2008 (due to time constraints no rescheduling will be possible)
Must fill out CHOICE application from middle school.

ALL OTHER APPLICANTS:


A representative from CAMS will visit the middle school.
Applications will be available from your middle school counselors
Applications must be in the CAMS office by 4:00pm; November 30, 2007
Interviews will be February 2, 2008 or March 1, 2008
